In an effort to strengthen security and prevent leakage of competing bid information, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited(HPCL), one of the India’s largest PSU’s, a Global Fortune 500 company, took a step. It has secured its Crude Oil Import Tender application with Oracle Audit Vault and Oracle Database Vault solutions.  “The e-tendering application could be the vital and integral part of HPCL’s crude oil business. Being an online process, we tend to ensure that no information leaks out before the bid is closed,” said Nishi Vasudeva, Executive Director – Information Systems, HPCL.

HPCL refineries crude throughput is 15.81 million metric tonnes. Therefore, procuring the quality of crude oil at the optimum time and worth through the e-tendering application plays a very judgmental role in HPCL’s overall profit. Even though HPCL’s crude oil import tendering, it submits its bid information on online. Later it stores the information in an Oracle Database. To address this, HPCL has enforced Oracle Audit Vault and Oracle Database Vault. It  safeguards volume of classified information of competitive bid knowledge. This could include information on material quality, quantity, loading port, valuation time among others. Nearly 60 international vendors are submitting it in online.
